Members of our Indigenous-led coalition led a Jane's Walk event on May 7, 2023. We started at Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue West and walked to Pearen Park and Fergy Brown Park. Speakers talked about the parks and their importance to the community, and Metrolinx's plan to run a section of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension as an elevated structure through the parks, which would destroy 1,485 trees and negatively affect the community, wildlife and the environment. We also spoke about the tipis in the parks and the Sacred Fire and how our coalition continues to take action to protect our parks.
