Meeting with Metrolinx: Large group of residents angry with plan to destroy our parks

Residents came out strong in opposition to Metrolinx's irresponsible proposal to build a "Gardiner Expressway" for trains through greenbelt parkland and turn one of the few children's playgrounds in our community into a construction staging zone for nearly a decade. At the meeting, Metrolinx admitted that their proposal would mean clear cutting much of the urban forest and that the train expressway would have to go deep (at least 30 meters) into the parkland. Metrolinx has consistently understated the impact of the proposal in our community and refused to provide detailed information or to-scale drawings.
